HOARDINGS PROJECT
In autumn 2025 we moved our Thursday club across the road to the community centre’s temporary space, where it was gloriously hosted by artist and KWMC team member Dani Hale.
Dani says: Our Thursday after-school club welcomed children from the Filwood Broadway area to explore creativity through hands-on artmaking. Using recycled and scrap materials, the group created artworks inspired by the history of the high street, while also imagining its future. The children’s designs have been developed into a large-scale decorative hoarding, which will surround the community centre during its redevelopment celebrating local voices, creativity, and the area’s ongoing transformation.
The final artwork went up in January 2026 on the hoardings around the Filwood Community Centre and will be there until the summer when the newly developed centre will open to the public. Thanks to Out of Hand for the installation and for Bray and Slaughter for providing hoardings space.
